Hey, I'm Ben! Nice to meet you.
I'm Ben Holbrook, a multi-hyphendated creative based in Swansea, South Wales, UK.
Interested in storytelling, I work with photography, video and text.
Drawn to documentary and diarism, I find myself exploring themes of memory, mental health and ritual.
About Ben Holbrook
I cut my teeth in Barcelona and London, where I spent a decade working in various roles as a writer and photographer – eventually dipping a toe into the world of video/film.
Success as a travel blogger led to me being invited to contribute to a broad range of global travel outlets, including the publication of two travel books (The Hunt Barcelona and Precincts Barcelona, for Hardie Grant Publishing).
However, Covid and family life put paid to my travel life and brought me home to Wales, where I now live (in Swansea) with my beautiful wife and two children.
I continue to work professionally as a photographer and videographer and maintain an independent practice (both stills and film) focussing broadly on themes of memory, mental health, and ritual. I am also interested the act of diarism and self-archaeology.
I hold a First-Class BA in Photography from Falmouth University, where I enjoyed exploring less familiar forms of contemporary and conceptual photographic practice. Here I also discovered a love for writing about photography, with thought pieces and essays that I feel give me a deeper and broader perspective of my work and what I hope to achieve with it.
